Description

Using ghc 7.6.1

$ rm -rf ~/.cabal # To force a new default config being written
$ cabal update # To write default config
Config file path source is default config file.
Config file /home/bardur/.cabal/config not found.
Writing default configuration to /home/bardur/.cabal/config
Downloading the latest package list from hackage.haskell.org
$ cabal install foo
cabal: Command.optionToFieldDescr: feature not implemented

Although this particular bug doesn't seem to be severe since once you remove the incorrect jobs line in the .cabal/config file it starts working again, it is quite annoying.

Thanks for the report!

This will be worked around in the next cabal-install bugfix release (https://github.com/haskell/cabal/commit/aa7d98f72f4a06ab2ab12defd046a21872a718d8). You can also try to upgrade to the latest Cabal bugfix release (1.16.0.1). Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about the Cabal that ships with 7.6.1. If there's a 7.6.2 we could ship with the fixed Cabal.

I'm closing this as the bug is fixed upstream.
