i seem to be getting a panic from ghci on a very simple
program. apologies if this is not a bug, but something
wrong with my installation. this is on linux (mandrake
9.1), and i just installed the rpm for redhat available
from the site. the same problem was happening with the
binary distribution as well.
this is what happens:

diatchki@chara: Haskell >ghci

This is a bad bug, reported many times now. It'll be fixed in
6.0.1, which is imminent.

Meanwhile, as a workaround, start by saying
    :t GHC.Err.error
and all will be well
