I was experimenting in ghci and this happened.

ghc: panic! (the 'impossible' happened)
  (GHC version 7.8.3 for x86_64-apple-darwin):

This looks like #10058 which is fixed in HEAD. Can you try your code with HEAD?

I hit a similar error and it might be related.

The same can be compiled with Emacs' haskell-mode and the it runs fine. Its an issue only when invoked through cabal test
